Tell us about your business journey.
“I’m Ron Barrington, and I grew up as the only boy in my family, following in my dad and granddad’s footsteps to become a well driller. To become the most well-rounded driller possible for our family business, I spent the 80s traveling to Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming, gaining deep experience in seismic and oil drilling. I brought that technical knowledge back to Oregon to combine with the wisdom passed down by my father and grandfather.
Our legacy continues with my daughter, Teresa. She truly broke the mold—it was a wonderful surprise when she told me she wanted to earn her driller’s license. She grew up in the business and has absorbed knowledge from both me and her grandpa. She brings so much to the table, and our customers absolutely love working with her. She is a true asset to the company.”
What is a memorable story about your business?
“The roots of Barrington Well Drilling go back to 1953. My dad and grandpa owned a mill that burned down twice in the late 40s and early 50s. They decided not to rebuild it a third time, choosing instead to pivot into the water-well-drilling business. Now, we are four generations strong, with over 70 years of experience serving the Southern Oregon coast.”
What is a fun fact about your business?
“Most people don’t know that Teresa is the 8th woman well-driller in the entire state of Oregon, as well as the 4th generation of our family to lead this work.”
