Four generations of well drilling
Ron Barrington grew up following his father and grandfather into the drilling trade. He says that during the 1980s, he traveled all over the States. From Louisiana and Montana, to North Dakota and Wyoming.
There, he gained experience in seismic and oil drilling, before bringing that knowledge back to Oregon.
That added another layer to the skills already passed down through the family. Today, Ron’s daughter Teresa is continuing the tradition.
Teresa carries the family tradition forward
Ron says Teresa grew up around the business. She learned from both him and her grandfather.
According to the family, she became the eighth woman in Oregon to earn a well-driller’s license and represents the fourth generation of Barringtons in the trade.
How the business began
The Barrington family says the story goes back to 1953.
Ron’s father and grandfather had owned a mill that burned twice in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Rather than rebuild it a third time, they changed direction and moved into water-well drilling.
More than 70 years later, the family is still working in the water-well business and serving communities along the Southern Oregon Coast.
